Each branch of the nabonal government has certain controls (checks) over the other two branches
Checks and balances
Example: article 1 gives congress power to impeach and article 1
Gives prez. Power to veto a bill passed by congress
Limited government
Governors power is limited by the rule of law which are passed in pursuance of that constitution. This means that government is not all powerful
Example of limited government
The imposed rights guaranteed to the people by the US Bill of rights by article 1, section 9 and 10
Individual rights
Personal freedoms, personal protections and equality under the law are guaranteed in the constitution, the Bill of rights, and laws of US
