Describe a daily check on an SCBA:
- Check using your reg and mask, turn on bottle, listen for audible low air alarm, check for leaks, check heads up display and compare to bottle gauge/shoulder gauge to ensure all same readings, ensure bottle is full
- Check pack to ensure straps are loosened, check to ensure no damage and it is clean. Check all hoses, check that pack alert is operating for motion and manual activation. Check battery level for pack alert.
At what rate do you fill an SCBA bottle at?

What do you do if while checking the apparatus, you find a piece of equipment that is broken?
- Advise captain, remove piece of equipment, complete an out of service tag, replace, if possible, with spare, mark on eraser board on apparatus floor of what was removed and where it went.

- Is a person(s) responsible for providing information regarding communicable disease infection and contamination of a FF or possible contamination.

Define Flashover:
The rapid transition between growth stage and fully developed; all surfaces and objects within a space have been heated to their ignition temp, and flames break out all at once.
What are the five signs of a backdraft?
Spongey roof, puffing smoke, rattling windows, smoke-stained windows, black smoke becoming dense gray/yellow, little or no visible flame.
When should the apparatus retarder be used? When should it not be used?
Retarder on at all times unless raining or snowing. Driver is to advise captain that he/she is shutting off the retarder
