Proximity
Refers to the newsworthiness of an individual or organization; this is where celebrity gossip takes place. The bigger the celebrity, the bigger the story.
Prominence
This is where wars, scandals, arrests, etc are featured continuously.
Conflict
This is where tragic events or big events are featured prominently on the news. “If it leads, it bleeds”
Consequence
Refers to people and their behavior; and it often has an emotional component. Light hearted stories towards the end of a broadcast.
Human Interest
This is where more serious news stories are featured. Topics like politics, investigation journalism, economics, etc are featured.
