Quiz 1 Muscles Flashcards
Temporalis OIAN
O: Temporal fossa
I: coronoid process & Ramus of mandible
A: elevate mandible. Retract mandible.
N: deep temporal nerve V3.
Masseter OIAN
O: Zygomatic arch
I: mandible and lateral surface of coronoid process
A: elevate mandible. Protrude mandible.
N: V3
SCM OIAN
O: sternal head - manubrium.
Clavicular head - medial 1/3 of
clavicle
I: mastoid process. Superior nuchal line occiput
A: UL contraction. IL flexion. CL rotation. BL flex/extend head.
N: motor = XI. Sensory = C2, C3.
Scalenes OIAN.
Anterior
O: anterior tubercle of C3-C6 TPs.
I: 1st rib
A: elevate R1
N: lower cervical central rami
Scalenes OIAN
POSTERIOR
O: posterior tubercles of C4-C6 TPs
I: external border R2
A: elevate R2. Flex and rotates neck

Scalenes OIAN
MIDDLE
O: posterior tubercle of C2-C7 TPs.
I: 1st rib
A: elevate R1
N: lower cervical ventral rami.
Levator scapulae OIAN
O: TPs of C1-C4
I: superior portion of medial border of scapula
A: elevate superior angle of scapula and draws it medially. Rotates scapula = glenoid cavity tilts inferior. Bends neck laterally and rotates neck to same side.
N: dorsal scapular nerve C5 (lower fibers). And C3, C4 (upper fibers)
Trapezius OIAN
O: EOP. Medial 1/3 sup nuchal line. Nuchal lig. SPs C7-T12
I: lateral 1/3 clavicle. Acromion. Scapular spine.
A: rotate scapula for ABD. Upper fibers= elevate shoulder. Middle fibers= retract shoulder. Lower fibers= draw scapula down.
N: motor = XI. Proprio = C3,C4.
Rhomboid major OIAN
O: SPs T2-5
I: medial border of scapula.
A: retract scapula. Rotate to depress glenoid cavity. Fix scapula to thoracic wall
N: dorsal scapular nerve. C4 C5
Rhomboid minor OIAN.
O: nuchal lig. SPs C7-T1
I: same as major
A: same as major
N: same as major.
Splenius capitis OIAN
O: nuchal lig. SPs C6-C7
I: mastoid process. Lateral 1/3 sup nuchal line.
A: Acting BL extend head/neck. Acting UL - lateral flex to side of contraction.
N: dorsal rami of middle cervical spinal nerves.
Splenius cervicis. OIAN
O: nuchal lig. SPs C6-C7
I: posterior tubercles of TPs C1-C3
A: Acting BL extend head/neck. Acting UL - lateral flex to side of contraction.
N: dorsal rami of middle cervical spinal nerves.
