Notes: Alleluia, church chanting, vocal only. Less consistent tempo, sorta free floating.
Alleluia, Diffusa Est Gratia
Notes: vocal only, begins with duple meter, more rhythmic group chanting, cannot make out clear words like alleluia or anything. Does not have the prominent instrumental presence of the bach pieces, nor the free-floating vocal presence of alleluia. Religious, for mass.
“Page Lingua Mass - Kyrie”
Notes: has instruments, sang in english, female vocalist at beginning, begins with the title of the song, mournful tone
“Thy Hand, Belinda… When I am Laid in Earth”
Notes: Harpsichord and singing, all men singing, has the 3 sections, have heard before, female solo call in response with male singer and more instruments fold in in later movements
“Lamento della Ninfa”
Has an almost percussive quality, moody ending, bright, upbeat beginning and middle, reminds you of “mad sun” by EE
“Violin Sonata no. 3 in F Major, 4th Movement”
Notes: violin based, A B A structure, also heard in class, no vocals, harpsichord present but not the forefront, violin flourishes and dynamic tempo changes from ritornello -> soloists
Violin Concerto in G, Op. 4, No. 12. 1st Movement
Notes: says the title in the beginning, sang in english, religious themes, “city of david” mentioning “christ the lord”
There Were Shepherds
Notes: prominent harpsichord, bright tone, instrumental only, on the lengthier side, heavy harpsichord “shredding” / improvisation and soloing
Brandenburg Concerto no. 5, 1st movement
Notes: Children’s choir, modern sounding rendition, also lengthier, slower, moodier. sounds almost contemporary
St Matthew’s Passion (Opening Chorus)
