Exigent cirumstances

A

PROBABLE CAUSE MUST EXIST
A warrantless search may be found to be reasonable in the face of exigent circumstances (danger to human life or immediate destruction of evidence).
It also applies to collection of forensic evidence or preventing the escape of a suspect
Also is related to “hot pursuit” rule—suspect fleeing from police enter home, hot pursuit applies
This is more “specific” than emergency doctrine, does not necessarily mean someone’s life is in danger
