these are absences where the student participated in a university-permitted event (e.g., seminar, symposium, organization activities/meetings). Absences falling into this category will be given only one day to comply with all missed activities, provided that documentation (i.e., signed correspondence detailing the event) is presented upon request for compliance.
Absence with no relative immediacy
these are absences where student is an official delegate to a university-permitted and endorsed competition or has felt sick without any doctor’s note or medical certificate. Absences falling into this category will be given 2 days to comply with all missed activities, provided that, for the former, documentation and endorsement (i.e., signed correspondence and endorsement) for said competition is presented upon request for compliance.
Absence with relative immediacy
these are absences where student has been hospitalized due to sickness or has been sick with official medical diagnosis evident through a doctor’s note or medical certificate. This absence also include absences due to death of an immediate family member. Absences falling into this category will be given 3 days to comply with all activities missed provided that said documentation is presented upon request for compliance.
Absence with relative emergency
on the other hand, are absences that do not fall within the aforementioned categories and will be given no merit or consideration in terms of compliance with missed activities.

A mark of ‘Incomplete/INC’ is given to a student whose class standing throughout the semester is passing but fails to appear for final examination or submits other requirements due to illness or other valid reasons. If in the opinion of the instructor the absence from the examination or failure to submit requirements is justified, the student may be given the chance to complete the requirements. In case the class standing is not passing and the student fails to take the final examination for any reason, the Instructor may give a grade of 5.0.
