Describe the difference between Wild camera and Sync Camera

A

Sync Camera: Industry standard film cameras with crystal sync motor for recording sync sound images

Wild Camera: does not have crystal sync motors, therefore not used when sync-sound dialog is recorded. Also loses the sync during longer takes and cannot sync sound with picture. Usually spring wound.

  • Mechanical/Frictional: Designed for still photography. The movements (pans and tilts) are not smooth.
  • Fluid Head: Hydraulic fluid that is forced chamber to chamber in the head. The pans and tilts are very smooth.
  • Geared: Standard for 35 mm cameras, controlled by separate gears that are in turn controlled by hand cranks.
