Difference between shooting in continuity vs out of continuity
Shooting in continuity is when you shoot the script in chronological order of the script , out of continuity is when you schedule a shoot out of order (common way to schedule a film shoot )
What order does the AD create preproduction paperwork in?
Line the script, breakdown, tentative one line schedule, solid one line schedule (after cast is confirmed), shooting schedule, department lists, call sheet (the night before a shoot date - 12 hours before call time)
What is a day out of days
Aka Dood - shows who is working what days and what talent is on hold. Done early so that key elements can be accounted for
One line schedule
Abridged version of the shooting schedule - scenes are listed and arranged in shooting order and broken up by shooting days
Going to colours
Every time something in the script is revised the paper colour changes so that you can see you’re using the most current version of the script
Difference between company move and set move
A company move occurs when the entire company moves from one location to another (involves travel time) a set move is when you move sets on the same location
Define cover set (going to cover)
An alternative film location that is reserved incase the original filming location is unusable
What is a strip board
Organizes the scenes in order of shooting using a colour coded system to indicate INT/EXT and Day/Night
What are the general guidelines to consider when creating a shooting schedule?
Weather, fixed dates, location, cast, exteriors, continuity of sequence, night shoots, time of year, child actor, SPFX stunts and animals, crowds, special equipment, turnaround/setup time and swing crews
Continuity of sequence
The consideration you make when scheduling a shoot to the chronological order of the scenes. You want to shoot as much of the film in continuity as possible.
What order do you make considerations when making a shooting schedule?
Start with fixed dates. Group locations together (try to get ext first). Factor in the actors schedules. Consider day and night shoots (12 hour turnaround time is required between shoot days) identify other special adjustments
