Differences in Genesis 1 and 2
Chapter 1 is focused on the creation of the world and man based on God’s image. Chapter 2 is focused more on the creation of man but never says “in the image of God”. Mental vs physical image. No sequence vs sequence. Conqueror vs gardener. Global vs scope.
How does Daube interpret Genesis 3?
He looks at it as the “rise” of humanity vs the fall. He sees it as an uplifting light.
How does Augustine interpret Genesis 3?
He looks at it as the “fall” of humankind. He says it is good for us as a race to be following God’s commandments
