The drone must remain within VLOS of the visual observer.
How far is the drone able to be?
It has to remain within sight of the pilot in command, the person with the controls. They must be able to see it with their own sight. Corrective lens (Glasses/Contacts) are the only thing able to be used.
Whats the rules for flying over people?
You are completely unable to do so unless they are apart of the team and or under a covered structure, a covered stationary vehicle does not count however.
Is it ever okay to fly during nighttime or civil twilight?
Yes, only with with appropriate anti-collision lighting.
What is Civil twilight?
30 minutes before official sunrise to 30 minutes after official sunset, local time.
Do you have to yield right of way to other aircraft?
Yes, its a must
What are the rules on visual observers?
May use visual observer (VO) but is not required.
Can the first person camera be used for everything?
First-person view camera cannot satisfy “see-and-avoid” requirements but can be used as long as the requirement is satisfied in other ways.
What is the max ground speed allowed?
Maximum ground-speed of 100 mph (87 knots).
What is the max altitude?
Maximum altitude of 400 feet above ground level (AGL) or, if higher than 400 feet AGL, remain within 400 feet of a structure
What is the minimum weather visibility?
Minimum weather visibility of 3 miles from control station
Are class B,C,D, and E ever allowed to flow in?
Operations in Class B, C, D and E airspace are allowed with the required ATC permission.
Can class G ever be flow in?
Operations in Class G airspace are allowed without ATC permission.
