Why did you choose that monologue?
Because I know the play rather well and I wanted to challenge myself performing in an accent that isn’t my own and one that touches on a sensitive topic?
Why did you choose that style of dance?
I wanted to show that I can do tap because we don’t get taught it in college and because it is my strongest style of dance.
What changes have you noticed in you song since the beginning of GU?
I used to over sing the start of it and didn’t act it.
If you could do it again, what would you change, if anything?
I woudl change how i presented the speech/ song/ dance?
I would not over sing the song as much?
How you progressed your speech and changed it over the course of rehearsing?
Added more twang into it to make sure the accent was present the whole time and didn’t take my time as much becase of time restraints.
How you emotionally connected to the character in the song and how you put it into your song?
I used emotional recall from acting to relate to the chracter and tried to get into her headspace for this song.
What would you have improved in your song?
Acted more?
Used more speech quality?
What did you base you dance on and what gave you inspiration for it?
Watched old dancing videos for inspiration and listened to the song on repeat to properly listen to the lyrics to get ideas for the choreography. Based the dance on not needing a boy to be happy.
What would you have improved in your dance?
Used more space and levels e.g. floor section.
