Questions For Test Flashcards
Why do planets not move in a straight line
The suns gravity pulls the planeys in their orbits and move faster the closer they are too the sun
Contrast the size and makeup of the inner and outer planets
The inner is smaller in size, rocky surfaces, have 2 or less to no moon, they orbit sun more quickly. The outer is greater in size, gaseous surfaces, have many moons, farther from Sun and orbits slower
Contrast meteorites, meteors, and metorites and explain how they relate to impact craters
Meteoroids are small rocky particles in space. Meteors when they streak through the atmoshpere. Meteorites when meteors strike Earths surface. Impact craters are round depression formed on planets or moons surface formed from meteorites striking surface
Determine how Earths atmosphere is different from those of the inner planets
Earth is able to support life becuase its atmosphere is made out of water vapor and other gases; oxygen and nitrogen. Our atmosphere traps in the right amount of heat. Its not becuase of our atmosphere and have water
Why do u think pluto is a planet or dwarf planet
It could be a planet becuase it spherical, orbits the sun
Dwarf planet is smaller in size; other objects cross its path
Describe the structure of the outer planets
They have solid core sourended by liquid the armosphere is made out of hydrogen and helium. Planest orbit is epliptical.
Au/ astronomical unit
Distance from Earth to Sun about 150 million km planet
Aestroid
Small, rocky, icy body, orbits sun in asteroid belt, located b/w Mars and Jupiter
Comet
Small, rocky, icybody that orbits the sun in an elliptical path
