How can urbanisation affect storm hydrographs?
A
Urbanisation leads to an increase in the number of impermeable surfaces which leads to a decrease in infiltration. This leads to an increase in surface run off and ultimately a reduction in lag time. A shorter lag time means a greater peak discharge
