How long do you see yourself working for us?
Say that you still need a lot of experience honestly and want to be there for several years at least and hopefully move up to sysadmin.
Do you have any experience with LMS/learning management systems?
You have used Canvas at school but know nothing about the IT side of it, just the student side.
This is a salaried position, do you know what that entails?
It means that you don’t really clock in, if there is work then you show up to do it whenever that may be.
Say you don’t have an issue with that, if you need to be there on a weekend or to stay late you will find a way to make that happen.
How much do you want to be paid?
(I would say 42k probably)
What is DNS?
Resolves domain names to IP addresses.
How are you with kids?
Say you have no problem with them and have a lot of younger cousins or something.
What he is more getting at is, can you direct/train a couple middle or high schoolers in IT support because they have summer internships.
Do you have any questions about benefits/pto/vacations/sick days?
I wouldn’t actually ask him much about this, that’s HR’s job.
If you want you can say you don’t have any questions about it at this time, most places are kind of the same in terms of benefits so you’re not worried about it.

Do you have any experience onboarding new employees?
You could say you have given laptops to new employees at your city job if you want.
Basic setup would be just making sure they log in to the laptop then log in to OneDrive so all their data syncs. You never had to install anything for them besides printer drivers sometimes.
How would you troubleshoot 365 issues for someone?
Check if the browser version of the app also exhibits the same issue the user is having.
Make sure they are logged in to the app with their work account and not a personal one.
Check if there are any Microsoft outages.
Do you have much experience with Office 365?
You know how to use them, and install them through office.com and can do basic troubleshooting.
What is a switch?
Device that directs traffic using MAC addresses within a network.
Do you know anything about VMs?
You have used Virtualbox
What is a VLAN/subnet?
A network segment used to improve performance and security by limiting broadcasts to only within that network segment.
What is Active Directory? Do you know much about that?
It’s like a server for managing permissions for user accounts and computers. You know how to reset a password through it but thats about it.
