It is the state of being of the therapist. The therapist is conscious of the internal feelings they have and are reflected and match their responses to clients .

It is a pattern when the therapist is customarily incongruent with a client over long periods of time and then he discharges his unexpressed feelings on the name of being congruent
Why is congruent important
It helps the establishment of a therapeutic relationship.
If client accept the therapists as congruent, he will know that the response he gets from therapist can be accepted as open and honest and authentic
