Recovery time objective
Target time to restore services to either SDO or normal operations. How long a system operations
Service delivery objective
Agreed upon level of restoration to resume acceptable operation. Not all systems need to be up. Just the critical ones
Maximum tolerable outage
The amount of time the organization can operate at the recovery site
What is GRC
A process to inter grate multiple disparate but related activities to improve effectiveness and reduce cost
Checklist DR test
Used as a walk through to discover obvious gaps. Least assurance of all DR testing
Tabletop/walk through DR test
Based upon a specific potential event. DR team walks through the response to the event. No activation. Better than a paper test, but does not provide great assurance
Simulation DR test
The DR plan is activated. However no data is processed at the recovery site. Provides greater assurance, also safer. Does not provide as much assurance as full interruption test
Full interruption DR test
DR plan is activated and data is processed at alternate site. Provides the greatest assurance but is also the most dangerous
Recovery point objective (RPO)
used to figure out how much data be lost in case of a disaster. Influences backup strategy
