“the collection of information from a sample of individuals through their responses to questions
- a type of research

“the specific tool by which you gather the information”
- consists of a series of questions containing specific concepts of interest deemed worthy of investigation

- non-response bias

- Nominal

Nominal Measures
A
- sometimes referred to as a CATEGORICAL variable
- each participant must fall into ONLY ONE category
- no order of magnitude is implied when comparing one category to another
- useful for grouping data

Ordinal Measures
A
- values of the variable can be rank ORDered
- categories having meaningful difference but the magnitude of difference between ranks may not be uniformed

- distance between the response options has actual meaning and is of an EQUAL INTERVAL
- has no absolute zero
