Q

The causes of Global Warming.

A

Natural Climate Change. (Occur as a result of atmospheric changes i.e. Plate tectonics, ocean variation)
Greenhouse Effect. (Causes temperature rises because the sun’s heat is trapped in the earth’s atmosphere as a result burning of fossil fuels)
Solar Activity. (Radiation coming from the sun, when cloud cover is low, reaches earth)
A possible solution to Global warming is to produce clean energy. (Energy that doesn’t produce carbon dioxide i.e. solar)

Q

Forms of pollution.

A

Acid Rain. (Burning fossil fuels release acids into the atmosphere and makes rain more acidic)
Human Waste. (Sewage and Litter causes water pollution and fills land fill sites)
Eutrophication. (Increase in chemical nutrients in water causes decays rivers and lakes)
Radio-Active Pollution. (Causes serious biological consequences i.e. cancer, genetic mutations)

Q

Possible solutions to pollution.

A

Acid Rain: Stop burning fossil fuels. (Alternative forms of energy)
Human Waste: Recycle. (Use sewage for methane gas)
Eutrophication: Improved sewage treatment. (Less use of chemicals in sewer cleaning)
Radio-Active Pollution: Reprocess the radio active waste. (97% can be reused)

Q

Scarcity of Natural Resources.

A

Governments have identified serious problems. (The overuse of natural resources)
Finite resources disappear. (Takes millions of years to develop)
Human use of these resources is a problem as they become scarcer. (Oil is used for petrol, all plastics)
We depend on them for our day to day lives. (There is no realistic alternative right now)

Q

Possible solutions to Scarcity of Resources.

A

Use more renewable resources. (Scientists are developing better solar and wind power techniques that people can use again and again)
Recycle. (Plastic will never run out if it keeps getting recycled)
Alternative lifestyles. (Instead of driving cycle or walk)
Scientific development. (New resources developed)

Q

Christian views on Stewardship.

A

God created the world. (His gift to humans was earth so treat it with respect)
Should leave the world a better place. (Leave it a better place than they found it/give more than you take)
Should try to improve the lives of the less fortunate. (Share the earth’s resources evenly)
Should try to reduce pollution. (Preserve resources for future generations)

Q

Islamic views on Stewardship.

A

The world was created by Allah. (Allah appointed Muslims as his Khalifas)
Responsibility to use the world’s resources fairly. (Distribute evenly to everyone)
Muslims feel they have a duty to reduce pollution. (Support groups that try to reduce pollution)
Duty to preserve the environment. (Make sure it continues what Allah intended it to be)
