Flexion vs extension and hyper tension
Flexion: making joint angle small
Extension: extending limb making angle larger
Hypertension is past 180
Abduction vs ADDUCTION
Abduction: limb moves away from midline ex. Raising hand 🙋🏽♀️
ADDUCTION: limb moves towards midline
Supination vs pronation
SUPINATION: forearms turn palms facing up ⬆️
PRONATION: forearm turns palm facing down
Opposition
Ability to touch pinky with thumb
Only humans can do this
Dorisflexion and plantar flexion
Dorisflexion (ankle flexion) brings foot up
Plantar flexion ankle extension brings foot down
Elevation vs depression
Elevation of mandible : closing of the mandible aka mouth
Depression of mandible: opening of the mandible aka mouth
Protraction vs retraction
Protraction of mandible: the extending of the head/neck aka chin out
Retraction of mandible: chin inward aka double chin or chin down
Inversion vs eversion
Inversion: foot goes inwards
Eversion foot goes outwards
Circumduction
Circular motion movement of arm or hip
Ration vs lateral rotation vs medial rotation
Rotation: side to side movement of head
Lateral rotation: leg moving outwards
Medial rotation: leg moving inwards
