Quantitative methods are ways of analysing raw data Flashcards
Variable
a variable is any factor or characteristic that can change or vary among different individuals or situations
Individual or case
Sample
This is a subset of the population that is selected for the actual data collection.
Population
This refers to the entire group of individuals or cases that are of interest for the study.
Descriptive Statistics
To summarize the main points or characteristics of the collected data
Inferential Statistics
To infer something about the whole population from the sample study
Nominal Data
Individuals are simply placed into one category or another. Labelled.
Ordinal Data
Ordinal data is a type of categorical data where the values have a meaningful order or ranking, but the intervals between the values are not necessarily uniform or quantifiable
Interval Data
Interval data involves measurements where the intervals between values are consistent and meaningful, but there is no true zero point that indicates the absence of the quantity.
Ratio Data
Ratio data represents measurements with a true zero point, allowing for meaningful comparisons of both differences and ratios.
