Quanti and Quali Flashcards
this kind of data can be observed and recorded. It is non-numerical in nature, and it is collected through methods of observations. It is also known as categorical data.
Qualitative data
This kind of data is defined as the value in the form of counts or numbers where each data has a unique numerical value associated with it. It is any information that can be used for mathematical calculations and statistical analysis.
Quantitative data
What are the two types of quantitative data?
Discrete and continuous
This type of quantitative data only involves counts, and must be expressed in whole number. It cannot be a fraction. Examples are the number of word, passers, and the number of students inside the classroom.
Discrete quantitative data
This type of quantitative data is usually expressed in fraction form. Examples are the height of a student and the length of your feet.
Continuous type of quantitative data
enumerate the four levels of measurement
Nominal scale ordinal, scale, interval, scale, and ratio scale
this level of measurement is the lowest level and is used for identification purpose. Only it is mostly use in qualitative data sets.
The categories cannot be arranged in a sequence
Examples, are your blood type your favorite ice cream?
Nominal scale
It is a level of measurement that is used for categorizing as well as for organizing. It is data that can be put into a sequence.
Examples are military rank
Ordinal scale
this level of measurement is a type of quantitative data, but it does not possess the property of absolute zero examples are the IQ score of a student
The temperature in Celsius
Interval, scale
it is a level of measurement with possesses absolutely zero, which means a zero on this scale means there is a total absence of the variable
It is the highest level of measurement
Ratio scale
