Quality Assurance 2 Flashcards
What may result in a pale image?
How can this be prevented?
Pale image:
- wrong exposure selection
- not enough time in developer
- developer temp too low/exhausted/wrong concentration
Prevented by:
- sensitometry
- routine processor maintenance
- topping up developer when required
- appropriate exposure selection
What causes fogged films?
Prevented by?
Fogged film:
- light leakage in darkroom/glove box of processor
- incorrect handling of film
Prevented by:
- regular checking of glove box/dark room
- coin test
- appropriate staff training
Causes of a dark image?
Prevented by?
Dark image:
- over exposure
- developer too hot, concentrated or developed too long
Prevented by:
- routine maintenance of processor
- regular checking of developer temperature
Causes of a yellow/greenish image?
Prevented by?
What causes dark spots on film?
Clear spots?
Prevented by?
Yellow image - insufficient time in fixer during processing, think of time, temperature and concentration/dilution
- Dark spots: developer splashes
- Clear spots: foxer splashes
Prevented by: routine processor maintenance
- regular changing of water in wash tank
Causes of static electricity discharge?
Prevented by?
Pull film too quickly out of packet in a dry atmosphere and can cause static electricity discharge
Prevented by: well ventilated dark room, suitable film storage and correct handling
