Bill becomes a law
The bill is sent to house or senate. Both houses go over the bill and decide a yes or no vote. If yes the bill is then sent to the conference committee. A new bill is made and senate + house vote on new bill. The the bill is sent it the presidentThe president can either veto the bill or sign it. If he vetos it the house and senate both need a 2/3 vote to override it

The electoral college votes in the president. If there is a tie the House of Representatives votes

How do the branches of government check each other’s powers
Judicial say it is unconstitutional. The executive veto bills and elect justices. The legislative override vetos and make laws

Interprets the law. All judges serve for life

Freedom of religion. Freedom of speech. Freedom of press. Freedom to peacefully assemble. The freedom to petition for change in government
2nd amendment
The right to have weapons. The right for state governments to have militia ( national guard) to protect for federal government
5th amendment
The right to remain silent. Government can’t take your property. You can’t be tried for the same crime twice.

Illinois became a state in 1818. It’s Capitol is Springfield
