QRISK Flashcards
What is QRISK for
Likelihood of MI in next 10 years
What 4 medical conditions put you at higher risk of an MI
● Chronic kidney disease (stage 4 or 5)
● Atrial fibrillation
● Rheumatoid arthritis
● Diabetic status
(CARD)
What drug history is relevant to a QRISK score 4
● Existing hypertension treatment
anything that increases BP eg steroids, antipsychotics, tamsulosin
What family history is relevant to a QRISK score 1
● Angina or heart attack in a 1st degree relative <60
What 3 personal factors, apart from age and sex, are relevant to QRISK score
Ethnicity
BMI
Postcode
What direct measurements are relevant to QRISK 2
cholesterol/ HDL ratio
systolic blood pressure
What are the values of risk for QRISK
<10% low risk
10-20% moderate
> 20% high
What is the management for below 10% in QRISK
- lifestyle changes
what is the management for above 10% in QRISK (3)
- lifestyle changes
- consider a statin
- review co-morbidities that are not well-controlled
what are the lifestyle changes that can be made for QRISK 5
smoking cessation
exercise
diet change
weight loss
control of disease/ medication adherence
Risk factors for MI:
Age
Tobacco
Hypertension meds/ control (last BP reading)
Exercise
Relative with angina/ MI
Obesity/ oral contraceptive
Migranes/ mental health
Alcohol
What medications
steroids, antihypertensive
