The term Attribute refers to those quality characteristics that conform to specifications or do not conform to specifications
When are Attributes used?

What does Nonconformity mean?
A Non-conformity is a departure of a quality characteristic from its intended level or state that occurs with a severity sufficient to cause an associated product or service not to meet a specification requirement
What does Defect mean?
A Defect is concerned with satisfying intended normal, or reasonably foreseeable, usage requirement
When is the term Defect appropriately used for?
Defect is appropriately used when evaluation is in terms of “Usage”
When is the term Nonconformity appropriately used for?
Nonconformity is appropriately used for conformance to specifications.
