221 BCE, they managed to seize all five Zhou states to create a unified Chinese empire
Qin Shi Hungdi burning books:
A man told Qin Shi Huangdi that he should use old books to follow some of their ideas. Hungdi didn’t like this and thought of his method to always be right to he ordered that the man and
his supporters be executed. All of their books were burned, except those on farming, medicine, fortune- telling and the Qin dynasty and its achievements. Anyone who tried to hide the books was killed.
Qin Shi Hungdi Legalism limits opposition:
Qin Shi Huangdi’s government was based on legalism , where he wouldn’t tolerate any opposition to rule. He rewarded those who obeyed him and punished those who did not. Those who did not obey the emperor risked torture, hard labour and death.
Qin Shi Hungdi government organisation:
Qin Shi Huangdi divided China into 36 areas and sent three offi cials to govern each area.
* One official organised control of the army.
* Another organised taxation, law and daily life.
* The third checked that all was going according to the emperor’s orders.
