QC Flashcards

1
Q

Protective Apparel QC

A
  • determines integrity of personal shielding devices to ensure optimal protection is maintained
    acceptance criteria:
  • lead aprons: total defect area over 670 mm ² is not acceptable
  • thyroid or gonadal shield: defective area larger than 5mm not acceptable

Q

Maximum Exposure Rate QC

A
  • test is to assure compliance with maximum ESE (especially important when ABC used)
    acceptance criteria:
  • 50 mGy/min for equipment not equipped with automatic intensity control
  • 100 mGy/min for equipment that is equipped with automatic intensity control
  • 150 mGy/min for equipment that is equipped with automatic intensity control and high level irradiation control the is activated

Q

Spacial Resolution QC

A
  • checks the imaging systems resolution capability, especially important for identifying small structures
    acceptance criteria:
normal mode: center 20-24, edge 20
mag mode: center 30-35, edge 24-30

Q

Low Contrast Resolution QC

A
  • objective is to visually check the imaging systems ability to display low contrast information, especially important to be able to see the difference between two structures close together with similar attenuation values
  • acceptance criteria: 3 sets of holes

Q

Image Noise QC

A
  • tests determines if noise is from electronic noise or from QM
  • if noise decreases as mA increases = QM noise
  • if noise stays the same as mA increases = electronic noise

Q

Shape Distortion QC

A
  • test identifies any distortion present, often geometric from the cured input screen
  • acceptance criteria: equal distortion present making up only 8-10% of image

Lag QC

A
  • test identifies if any lag present that might cause streaking or obscured anatomy
    acceptance criteria:
  • cardiac, vascular and interventional studies: max count of lag is 10%
  • GI studies: max lag is 20%

Automatic Brightness Control QC

A
  • tests to make sure ABC is properly function to ensure no flare or blackout present and that patient exposure rates within limit
  • acceptance criteria: dose rates for one block should be half the value of two blocks
