QC Flashcards
1
Q
why is quality management important?
A
- provide confident results to customer/patient
- corporate accreditation
2
Q
describe the 6 requrements for quality manager / system
- NPAAC
- ISO
- NATA
- RCPA
- TGA
- ACHS
A
- NPAAC: National Pathology Accreditation Advisory Council: std & guideline
- ISO: International stds. organisation: run by & meet & for food & water
- NATA: National Assosiation of Testing Authorities > check for compliance
- RCPA: Royal college of Pathologist of Australasia
- TGA: Therapeutic Goods Administration > test donor material before give to patient
- ACHS: Australasian Council of Health Care Services: like NATA
3
Q
7 Core QA areas
A
- internal audits
- Doc. control
- Staff /training/competancy
- COntinuous improvement /corrective actions
- Customer Liasion / consultation
- management t review / reporting
- Point of care testing
4
Q
what’s the difference b/w control drift & control shift & reasons these would occrur
A
- Drift: results become worse overtime ie. move further from mean bc control / reagent deterioration, instrument/calibration
- Shift: suddenc change in control/s value bc operator change/error, instrument/kit failure, incorrect control
5
Q
coefficient variation (CV%) equation
A
CV% = SD / mean x 100
6
Q
control acceptable range requirements
A
- ≥20 runs
- inter & intra assay repeatability
- Different operators
- range +/- 2SD
- Good CV (<5%)
7
Q
3 types ofk internal QC materials
A
- **“in-house” samples / serum / blood
- *manufacturer / commercial QC: use QC from diff. manufacturer
- patient samples (pooled sera) / tissue: controls for that patient w/ rare cond
8
Q
internal QC essential considerations
A
- Storage / expirey / stability
- vol required
- infection control (minimise risk of handlers)
- reference range
- precision / accuracy / bias
9
Q
corrective action request (CAR)
A
- preventative measures
- root causes
- management review / follow up / feedback
10
Q
DATIX CIMS - clinical incident manageemtn
A
- is patient impacted = investigate what & why => how to prevent next time
