Adrenaline - Indications
- Anaphylaxis/severe allergic reaction
- Severe life-threatening bronchospasm/silent chest (with haemodynamic compromise and/or ALOC and/or single words only)
- Cardiac arrest
- Croup (with stridor at rest)

Adrenaline - Adult
IM dose for anaphylaxis
500 microg, repeated at 5 minute intervals, no max dose.
Adrenaline - Adult
IM dose for severe life-threatening bronchospasm
500 microg, repeated at 5 minute intervals, no max dose.
Adrenaline - Adult
IV dose for cardiac arrest
1mg, repeated at 3 - 5 minutes, no max dose.

NEB dose for anaphylaxis
5mg, single dose only. 3 x IM adrenaline must also be administered.

> 10kg (> 1 year) - 10microg/kg, repeated at 3 - 5 minute intervals, no max dose.
< 10kg (< 1 year) - 100microg, repeated at 3 - 5 minute intervals, no max dose.
Newly born - 50microg, repeated at 3 - 5 minute intervals, no max

≥ 6 yr - 300 microg, repeated at 5 minute intervals, no max dose.
1 yr - <6 yr - 150 microg, repeated at 5 minute intervals, no max dose.
6 mths - <1 year - 100 microg, repeated at 5 minute intervals, no max dose.
< 6 mths - 50 microg, repeated at 5 minute intervals, no max dose.

Aspirin- Indications
Suspected ACS
Acute cardiogenic pulmonary oedema
Aspirin - Contraindications
- KSAR
- Chest pain associated with psychostimulant overdose
- Bleeding or clotting disorders
- Current GI bleeding OR peptic ulcers
Aspirin - Precautions
Pts <18 Yrs Possible aortic aneurysm or conditions requiring surgery Pregnancy History of GI bleed or peptic ulcers concurrent anticoagulant therapy
Aspirin - Side effects
Epigastric pain/discomfort Nausea/vomiting Gastritis GI bleeding NSAID induced bronchospasm
Aspirin - Adult dose
300mg tablet, chewed and swallowed with water.
Ceftriaxone - Indications
Suspected meningococcal septicaemia (with a non-blanching petechial AND/OR purpuric rash)
Ceftriaxone - Contraindications
- KSAR
- Known anaphylaxis/severe allergic reaction to penicillin or carbapenem based drugs
- Patiens <1 month
Ceftriaxone - Precautions
any allergy to penicillin or carbapenem based drugs - minor isolated rash does not contraindicate the use of ceftriaxone.
Ceftriaxone - Side effects
Pain or inflammation at the injection site
Ceftriaxone - Adult dose
IM
2g (2x 1g IM injections). SDO.
Reconstitute two separate vials each containing 1g of ceftriaxone with 2.4mls of water for injectionin a 3ml vanish point for a final concentration of 1g/3ml
Ceftriaxone - Paediatric
IV INF
> 20kgs (approx >4yrs)
50mg/kg, rounded up to the nearest 5kg. Total max dose 2g
Reconstitute 2g of ceftriaxone with 8.8mls of water for injection in a 30ml springfusor syringe for a final concentration of 200mg/ml (2g/10ml). Leave the excess in the vial.
> 20-25kg 1.25g, 6.25ml
25-30kg 1.5g, 7.5ml
30-35kg 1.75g, 8.75ml
35kg 2g, 10ml
Ceftriaxone - Adult dose
IV INF
2g over 20min. SDO.
Reconstitute 2g of ceftriaxone with 18.8mls of water for injection in a 30ml springfusor syringe for a final concentration of 2g/20mls
Ceftriaxone - Paediatric
IM
50mg/kg, rounded up to the nearest 5kg. Total max dose 1g.
Reconstitute 1g of ceftriaxone with 2.4mls of water for injection in a withdraw required dose using 3ml vanish point. Leave the excess in the vial.
≤5kg 250mg, 0.75ml
>5-10kg 500mg, 1.5ml
>10-15kg 750mg, 2.25ml
>15kg 1g, 3ml
