QA/QC Flashcards
What are the 3 mains quality assurance procedures?
Scrum, Six sigma, critical path analysis
What is scrum?
Work is done in teams to achieve goals in short timescale sprints. Daily meetings
What is six sigma
Aims to minimise defects to less than 3.4 units/mill. (DMAIC)
What is critical path analysis?
Steps are done in chronological order to find where time is wasted. By analysing dependencies on each task, process time can be reduced.
What other things can be monitored for QA?
Control of temperature (e.g. the mould)
Check mould markings
Regular mould maintenance
Visual quality control spot checks
What are the eight quality checks?
Visual, dimensions, weight, internal faults, walk thickness, surface crack detection, product testing and design and development
How can you test QC visual
Digital camera - an image is taken and compared to the product
How can you test QC dimensions
Go/no go guage
Coordinate measuring machinery
How can you test QC internal faults
X-rays
Gamma rays
How can you test QC weight
Digital scales
How can you test QC wall thickness
Ultrasonic testing (probe transmits high frequencies)
How can you test QC surface crack detection
Ringing (cracks sound different)
Liquid penetration (coloured liquid sprayed on)
Touch (sensitive probe passed over)
How can you test QC product testing
Fatigue testing (repeated use to see how long it lasts)
Wear resistance (repeated use)
Impact tests
Specific product related testing
How can you test QC design and development
Virtual testing before making
