QA and QC Flashcards
Briefly explain the difference between Quality Assurance and Quality Control concerning the inspection of offshore structures
Quality Assurance QA
QA focuses on preventing defects or issues in the processes used to create
products or deliver services. It’s a proactive approach aimed at improving
the development and manufacturing processes. QA involves the
establishment of standards and procedures to ensure that products or
services meet these standards consistently.
QA activities include planning, documenting, and implementing processes,
standards, and methodologies. It also involves conducting audits, reviews,
and inspections to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance
with established standards.
The primary goal of QA is to ensure that the processes used to create
products or deliver services are efficient, effective, and capable of
consistently producing outputs that meet customer requirements.
Quality Control QC
QC, on the other hand, is a reactive process that focuses on identifying and
correcting defects or issues in finished products or services. It involves
activities such as inspection, testing, and measurement to verify that
products or services meet predefined quality standards.
QC activities occur during the production process or after the completion
of a product or service to detect any deviations from established quality
standards. If defects are found, QC aims to take corrective actions to
rectify them and prevent similar issues in the future.
The primary goal of QC is to ensure that the final output meets the required
quality standards and satisfies customer expectations.
