Q
5 key points:
A
- “Earth” is symbolic of interdependence, love and peace- all aspect that capitalists have seemed to eradicate from society
- metaphor: capitalists perpetually exploit “Earth” without the need to “ask” due to their individualistic avarice
- socialists have actively attempted to replenish society from the capitalists’ everlasting damage
- juxtaposing nature of the verbs “ask” and “take” operate as a vehicle for Inspector to inquire about morality of Mr Birling’s -and collectively, all capitalists’- actions
- capitalists take everything for themselves and leave nothing for other; an act which is often disguised under the pretence that they’re ‘elevating’ society for the better.
