sample
is a sampling technique in which every element of the population has an equal chance of being selected for inclusion in the sample.
Simple random sampling
is a random sampling technique in which each elements of the population is used as a sampling frame and the elements in the desired sample are selected by skipping through the regular intervals.
Systematic sampling
is a random sampling techniques in which the population is first divided into groups called strata, then samples are randomly selected from each stratum (strata plural).
stratified sampling
is a random sampling technique in which the entire population is divided into small groups, or clusters and then some of the clusters are randomly selected. The data from these clusters are the ones subjected for analysis.
cluster sampling
is a measure that describes a population.
parameter
is a measure that describes a sample.
