A

Applies to officers who have completed BOLC B. Must not have used a kicker previously. Based on available funding; not an entitlement.

Montgomery GI Bill Chapter 1606?

A

For traditional RC soldiers (“M” day soldiers). Must agree to serve at least six years in the RC; complete basic & AIT (MOSQ), actively drilling, have a high school diploma or have a high school diploma or the equivalent. Soldier does not contribute to this program.

Montgomery GI Bill Chapter 30/33?

A

Requires 2 or more years of AD (mobilized RC Soldiers can qualify). Soldier pays $1,200 into the program (lump payment or twelve, $100 allotments).

When will I know what component I will serve upon commissioning?

A

During the accessions process it will be determined what component you will serve. If you were a Dedicated scholarship CDT, you will serve in that specific component. Example: Dedicated ARNG CDT will serve in the ARNG.

Upon commissioning, how much time do I owe the ARNG or USAR?

A

If you were a non-scholarship CDT (no T&F or R&B) your commitment is 6x2, 6 yrs drilling and 2 in the IRR. If you were a GRFD scholarship CDT, your commitment is 8yrs in a drilling status.

If I am a Prior Service-MOSQ soldier, am I still required to attend LDAC

A

Yes. All CDT’s must complete LDAC in order to Commission.

Can I use my MGIB benefits in conjunction with a GRFD scholarship?

A

Yes, with a GRFD scholarship any MGIB benefit may be used. With a Dedicated GRFD scholarship, the CH 1606/1607 benefits are suspended, however CH 30/33 MGIB may be used. The CH 1606/1607 MGIB is suspended during the length of the Dedicated scholarship and can be used at a later date after the scholarship is complete.

Can I use FTA or STA in conjunction with a GRFD scholarship?

A

(NEW POLICY) Federal Tuition Assistance cannot be used with a GRFD scholarship. State Tuition Assistance (state benefit) can be used with any scholarship. Verify the States education benefits before contracting as each State has its own education policies.

When will they receive scholarship payments? (GRFD)

A

Typically 45 days after the start of each semester when it is verified that the CDT has returned to school.

How can I get a CDT basic course qualified?

A

They can complete MS1 & MS2, complete LTC or complete Basic Training

Can I convert a line scholarship CDT after he/she has been through the accessions process and was not selected for AD?

A

Yes, once the CDT has been “referred” to the RC, they are eligible to drill
