Q1.1 Flashcards
topic 1 ig
classification of ECG, EMG and EEG signals
Bioelectric Signals
what does ECG stand for
electrocardiogram
what does EMG stand for
electromyogram
what does EEG stand for
electroencephalogram
amplitude and frequency of bioelectric signals
LOW amplitude, LOW frequency
parts of circulatory system
pulmonary, systemic, cardiovascular
pulmonary - respiratory
systemic - heart and circulatory
cardiovascular - pumps blood from the heart to the lungs to get oxygen
what is a systemic system
provides a functional blood supply to all body tissues
what is the pulmonary system
respiratory system:
lungs, airways (trachea, bronchi and bronchioles), diaphragm, voice box, throat, nose and mouth
what is the cardiovascular system
heart arteries, veins, and capillaries:
pumps blood from the heart to the lungs to get oxygen
difference between pulmonary system and systemic system
Systemic circulation transports oxygenated blood from the heart
Pulmonary circulation brings deoxygenated blood back to the heart
what can u diagnose EEG with
sleep apnea, brain death, epilepsy
what can u diagnose EMG with
motor problems, nerve injuries, neuromuscular diseases
what can u diagnose ECG with
heart burn, heart attack
facts abt normal ECG signals
stochastic in nature / random or pattern distribution that may be analysed but not predicted precisely
frequency below 30 Hz
signal is mostly biphasic / two phases
describe a pathological process ?
typically associated with signals that are abnormal
