Q1 Flashcards
Error of Association
When two events are incorrectly assumed to be caused by one another
Recency Error Of Perception
Causes of the most recent instance of behavior is attributed to variables present during that instance
Primary Error of Perception
The cause of the behavior is attributed to variables present during that the first instance of behavior occurring
Error of Misplaced Precision
Data collection measures are not appropriate to behavior being targeted
Error of Inaccurate FBA
Subjective bias/not thorough FBA leading to incorrect function of behavior
Error of Exaggeration
Overemphasis is placed on variables that present when the behavior occurs and leads to incorrect conclusions (ie. “He always hits me when I tell him no”)
Error of Generalization
Assumption that the variables contributing to the behavior of student A equate to student B
Or
Multiple behaviors exhibited are controlled by same function
Positive Reinforcement
Give stimulus to increase behavior
Negative Reinforcement
Take away stimulus to decrease behavior
Positive reinforcement serves to maintain problem behavior that is the function of
Attention
Access to tangibles
Negative reinforcement maintains problem behavior that is the function of
Escape
Motivating Operations
Alters the effectiveness of some object or event as a reinforcer
Or
Alters the current frequency of all behavior that has been reinforced by that stimulus, object, or event
Establishing Operations
Increase in the effectiveness of some stimulus, object, or event.
I.e.: eating salty chips, making you thirsty, making margarita more reinforcing
Abolishing Operations
Decrease in reinforcing effectiveness
of some stimulus, object, or event
I.e.: after getting margarita, no longer thirsty, so drink is no longer reinforcing. Satiation
Setting events can be both
Environmental and biological
