S proposed on lake Baikal (august 2019)
S knew when she was in seattle with A, she introduced A to her parents as her girlfriend; they were happy for us
When did you decide to get married?
When we were watching fireworks in Indianola (bainbridge island), S decided that she wanted to spend the rest of her life with A
A said something that made S realize she’d want to be with her forever
Her dad knew we were dating by that point
When did you exchange rings?
Exchanged rings when we were back in Moscow, new rings - seattle july (sav knew a specific spot in fremont)
When did your parents find out?
Hung out with A’s mom and told her, and had honey cake to celebrate
S told her parents after she came back to Seattle

Moved in together in Fall 2019 - 852 huntington ave
Who proposed first?
S proposed on Lake Baikal

Then we exchanged rings that were important to us
Where did you spend your honeymoon?
We hung out in NY after our marriage, went to bars, walked around in BK, vegan restaurants, thrift shopping. Couldn’t have a “real” honeymoon b/c of the pandemic

Usually wondering what you want at the store or coordinating pickup since S is the one that drives
What did you do for your spouse’s last birthday?
S’s mom made A a cake and we also went out to brunch in seattle
S was on a family river trip for her birthday (A did not want to go on the trip because there is a lot of strenuous hiking and kayaking. A also had a few big illustration competitions coming up that she needed to submit her work to in october.) When S came back, we went out to dinner one night as a post-celebration.
Do you know your spouse’s salary?
A makes money on commission and it depends on the piece, but about $500 a month.
S is currently working for her father at around $26 an hour painting the railings, organizing his workshop, scanning old boxes of photos
Do you have any joint bank accounts? What kind of accounts?
Checking and savings account at chase. We opened it after we got married. We also both have personal accounts at chase, which we use for personal purchases.
We also have a savings account at discover bank. the money in it is savings/inheritance from A’s parents from when they sold their home in russia in 2019 - right now there is around $154,000 in the account. we never use this money but it’s nice to have as a financial cushion for the future.
What do you use your joint bank account for?
Right now, the joint account isn’t as vital because we live with S’s parents, but when we were renting, we used the joint account for rent, utilities, common purchases, etc. Now we use it for groceries and parking.
Do you and your spouse have any scars or tattoos?
A has a birdcage with a TV man and flowers on her thigh.
What was the last vacation you and your spouse took?
S went to Mexico in the spring with her family but A couldn’t go since she can’t leave the country. S went to NY for a weekend when A’s mom visited in May/June 2021. A was doing an art residency there for a month at the time.
Do you have an insurance policy listing your spouse as a beneficiary?
No. A was uninsured for a long time since she doesn’t have an employer but just got on medicaid.
What did you do on Christmas, New Year, your anniversary?
We spend it at S’s family’s- her family has parties

S recently bought a tent to go backpacking with

How does A spend her days? Where does she work?
Making pieces + spends a lot of time doing art director outreach and promotion, applying to art shows and competitions. She works out of a home office next to our bedroom.
How long was it before you decided to get married?
I knew A was different than most of my close friendships and once we started hooking up I knew that it was serious but I wasn’t sure that I wanted to marry her until she came home with me and there was a moment in Indianola watching fireworks when I knew I wanted to propose, but I waited. I wasn’t sure if the feeling was fleeting, but it stayed and it built so in total it was a year.
When did you meet each other’s parents?
Met in Seattle 2019
Met in Russia 2019 - just A’s mom because Sergey lives and works in the DR and to this day, the embassy is closed there (due to covid) and he can’t visit us in the US.

A - no siblings

S - Canyon and Swift (Children of Trevor)

Where did your spouse go to school?
A - Part of high school in California + American school in Singapore + Northeastern
S - Seattle Academy of Arts and Sciences after one year at Issaquah high school + Northeastern
Why did A move to the US?
She originally moved to the US and later singapore because of her dad’s job at the time. he worked with a small team to build and test out some heavy crude oil processing equipment.
What time do you get up and go to bed?
S - gets up at 7, workout (strength training), run, bed 11:30
A - gets up at 5, sneaks out to home office, bed 9pm
Who is your spouse’s past employer?
S - family she nannied for
A - The Wally Shop
Do you have a cat, dog, or other pet? Who feeds it? Who walks it?
S - takes care of Boogie and Cooper and Nio
A - takes care of Pasya
Does your spouse take any regular medications?
A - glycine (for better sleep), zoloft
S - probiotic and collagen pills
On important holidays, do you buy individual gifts for your parents-in-law? Do they buy individual gifts for you?
A - buys flowers and art prints (her work), gets experiences like spa day at olympus spa or that parachute thing

What kind of car does your spouse drive?
S - toyota highlander and mini cooper
A’s license expired and she hates driving. S drives her or she takes the bus
