Pythagoras + Trigonometry Flashcards
1
Q
What is Pythagoras’ theorem?
A
A* = B* + C*
2
Q
Using Pythagoras
A
For Example, If A = X ( Hidden Side ), B = 11 & C = 6, that means that X* = 11* + 6. 11 = 121 & 6* = 36, add them together to get 157. If X* = 157, then you must find the root of 157 which is 12.5, meaning that X = 12.5
3
Q
What are the 3 Trigonometric Ratios?
A
Sine (Sin), Cosine (Cos) & Tangent (Tan)
4
Q
What is SohCahToa?
A
- Soh is Sin - Opposite / Hypotenuse
- Cah is Cos - Adjacent / Hypotenuse
- Toa is Tan - Opposite / Adjacent
5
Q
What is the Hypotenuse?
A
The longest side of the triangle that is opposite the right angle
6
Q
What is the Opposite?
A
The side opposite the given angle
7
Q
What is the Adjacent?
A
The side beside the given angle
8
Q
What is theta?
A
Theta is the equivalent of the given angle
