Pyrimidine Nucleotides Flashcards
What does Carbomyl phosphate synthetase II (CPSII) do?
Converts Glutamine –> Carbamoyl phosphate
What activates and inhibits CPSII?
Activate: ATP & PRPP
Inhibit: UTP
What is Ribonucleotide Reductase?
Ribonucleotide diphosphate (NDPs) —> Deoxyribonucleotide Diphosphate (dNDPs)
This enzyme maintains a balanced supply of dNTPs used for DNA synthesis
What regulates Ribonucleotide Reductase?
Activates: ATP
Inhibits: dATP inhibits
What is Adenosine Deaminase (ADA) deficiency ?
Occurs when Conversion of Adenosine to Inosine is blocked. Leads to an increase in cellular adenosine and dATP.
Ribonucleotide Reducatase is inhibited. Causes SCID due to T and B cell dysfunction
What does Thymidylate Synthase do?
Converts dUMP to DTMP
