Pyelonephritis Presentation
A
- Onset is usually rapid with symptoms appearing over a day or two
- Unilateral or bilateral loin pain, suprapubic pain, back pain
- Fever is variable but can produce rigors
- Malaise, nausea, vomiting, anorexia
- Dysuria, Haematuria, hesitancy

- Urinalysis
- Culture and sensitivity
- Inflammatory markers
- Bloods
- Blood cultures

- CT if diagnosis uncertain

A
- Support
- Ciprofloxacin or co-amoxiclav for 7 days
- Hospital admission if indicated

- High WBC count
