One of the most iconic colleges in Cambridge
Was founded by King Henry the 6th in 1441 as a college for boys from his school to go to (ETON)
Had low expectation of future students behaviour
College rules were no dogs, monkeys, foxes and bears into the grounds
Also no wrestling in the chapel
Also they were awarded degrees without having to take any exams, to make sure they don’t “overwork”

Full catering and cleaning services provided
Apparently a room would cost £9000 a year
The mathematical bridge?
Also known as Newtons and the wooden bridge
Had to be rebuilt several times due to the wood rotting
Big misconception is that Newton designed it, however he had been dead for 20 years before the bridge was built, in fact was built by William Etheridge after his trip to the Far East but no one knew who he was, hence it isn’t named after him
Trinity Hall ?

Stephen Hawking graduated in 1966
Clare Bridge?
Was built over 1638-40
Oldest bridge over the Cam
Cost £65 to build and Thomas grumbold was only payed 15p for his work so decided to take payment by stealing an equivalent value of from the bridge (second ball on left)

Laundress Green?
This green is opposite the Mill Pub is where the town’s washerwoman united to dry the laundry after washing it in the river
However the river was used as an open sewer and animals grazed over the green, so unlikely that the town possessed linen that was more white than brown
Laundress lane behind the anchor inn is where the washerwoman lived

St John’s college?
Founded in 1511
Founded by lady Margaret Beaufort, the grandmother of Henry the 7th, on the site of a twelfth century hospital
It’s the wealthiest college after trinity, in which they use to have a massive rival
In 1600 some John’s students were invited by their neighbours to come and watch a play, however as they passed through the front gate, stones were dropped on them and they were attacked with flaming brands
New court?
Founded in 1831
Has student accommodation known as the wedding cake, there are clock faces on the sides of the castle tower but no clocks, due to funds running low
On one occasion a student climbed up the tower face and painted a clock
Master noticed the clock had stopped and told a porter to get help to fix it, only once up there realised that there was no clock

The panels on bridge show Neptune with a trident, the spirit of the river
On the right side is the highest ever flood level

Founded by Thomas Audrey, Henry the 7ths lord chancellor
Small size 350 students
King’s chapel?
founded in 1446
Henry the 6th decided to build a college on a unpresidented scale with the chapel as the centre piece
A large site was cleared involving the purchase and demolition of a substational part of the medieval town
Henry the 6th himself was meant to come and lay down the foundation stone, but feared the air and the pestilence of the town so sent someone else
Unfortunately died before seeing it built, it was finished in the era of Henry the 7th
