Comes At Ends Of Sentences And After Abbreviations
Capital Letters
Used For Proper Nouns, Personal Pronoun ‘I’, Abbreviations, Acronyms, Key Words Of Titles, And Beginning Of A Sentence
Exclamation Mark
Used To Display A Specific Emotion/Tone/Attitude. Emotive And More Informal.
Question Mark
Used In Questions And Rhetorical Questions. Don’t Define A Rhetorical Question When Asked.
Comma
Separates List Items, Seperates Sentence Parts, Marks Off Interjection/Vocative, Introduces Dialogue, And Indicates Parenthesis.
Semi-Colon
Joins Main/Independent Clauses, Balances Equally Important Clauses, And Are Associated With Logical/Objective Writing.
Colon
Introduces A List/Quotation(Only For Direct Speech)/ Clarification(Specify What Kind. E.G. Definition, Consequence, Reason, Result, Description)
Dash
Introduces An Afterthought Or Aside, Creates Suspenseful Pause, Separates Clauses, Introduces Explanation, Indicate Hesitation/Interruption
Parenthesis
Adds Additional Information But Remember To Specify What Kind. (Eg. Personal Comment, Description, Include Factual Information, Translation.)
Inverted Commas/Quotation Marks
