- tooth is unrestorable in the long term(not enough tooth tissue)
- pt is uncooperative

what part of the diseased pulp is removed in pulpotomy?
-coronal portion of pulp is removed. NOT radicular pulp
Is formocresol still used?
-formocresol is no longer used in conjunction with pulp therapy
what is tricesol in formocresol?
-powerful antiseptic
what are some side effects of formocresol?
- mutogenic and carcinogenic properties shown in animal studies
- local tissue damage if formocresol becomes extruded via apical foramen, damaging tooth germ
what is ferric sulphate excellent at doing?
haemostatic agent
is ferric sulphate a fixative agent?
no
what does calcium hydroxide encourage within the tooth?
new dentine formation
what is desensitising pulp therapy used for?
to reducal pulpal inflammation
what is placed in the tooth when doing a desensitising pulp therapy?
ledermix(steroidal antibiotic paste)
what is the difference between pulpectomy and pulpotomy?
- pulpectomy is where the whole pulp is involved.
- pulpotomy is when only a part of the pulp is involved.
what is phase 1 of pulpectomy?
- canal debridement
- canals all cleaned out and temp dressing placed
what is phase 2 of pulpectomy?
- obturation
- temp. dressing removed and root filler placed, backfilled with zinc oxide eugenol then pernament restoration placed on top
