Cough due to Lung Yin Vacuity
Middle stage Lung Abscess due to Phlegm Heat can be subcategorized as ________. How can one differentiate these?
suppuration - high fever, cough w/ yellow green sputum, dry mouth and throat
rupture - cough w/ copious purulent smelly sputum, may be blood streaked, can’t lie down, red complexion, thirst for cold drink

Pulse: rapid, wiry
Tongue: red w/ yellow coat
Nasal congestion due to GB Heat
Identify the pattern:
Heavy turbid yellow nasal discharge, severe continuous nasal congestion, loss of smell, redness/swelling w/in nasal cavity + distending pain w/ the nose, heavy aching head, fatigue, epigastric discomfort + fullness, loss of appetite, dark yellow urine
Pulse: rapid slippery or soft, rapid
Tongue: red w/ slimy yellow coat
nasal congestion due to SP + ST Damp Heat
Identify the pattern:
Clear sticky nasal discharge, intermittently mild or severe nasal congestion, impaired smell w/ increase in severity of nasal discharge + congestion upon exposure to wind or cold; SOB, loss of strength, sluggish speech, weak voice, spontaneous sweat, aversion to drafts, coughing w/ phlegm in some cases
Pulse: weak
Tongue: pale body, thin white coat
Nasal congestion due to LU Vacuity Cold
Identify the pattern:

Pulse: weak, tardy
Tongue: Pale w/ white coat
Nasal congestion due to SP Qi Vacuity
Describe symptoms of Summer Heat Damp in superficial level, deeper in ST and LU, deepest level
Superficial : iron band HA, heavy head and limbs, sore limbs/joints
ST & LU: nausea, greasy mouth, chest oppression, epigastric distention
deepest level: loose stool
General symptoms of Summer Heat Damp include ______
uncomfortable, aversion to wind
no thirst, little perspiration
Wheezing is a failure of ___________.
Lung qi to descend / counterflow Lung qi
____ deficiency is frequently observed in chronic wheezing in children.
____ yin deficiency can lead to the manifestation of Lung Qi deficiency
