Pulmonary, Systemic and Cardiac Circulation Flashcards
Pulmonary circulation
Carries DEOxygenated blood away from the heart, to the LUNGS, and returns oxygenated blood back to the heart
Systemic circulation
Carries OXYGenated blood away from the heart to the BODY, and returns deoxygenated blood back to the heart.
Cardiac Circulation
Brings blood from the heart to the muscular layer of the heart wall. This gives the muscles the oxygen necessary to be able to pump blood. It also carries away carbon dioxide waste.
P. Circulation….
System Veins - Superior - inferior vena cava - Pulmonary trunk - Pulmonary artery - Lungs
S. Circulation….
4 pulmonary veins - L. atrium - L. Ventricle - aorta - all tissues of the body
C. Circulation….
Ventricles relax - Blood flows to R + L coronary arteries - nourishes heart.
What is Cardiac circualtion?
Circulation of blood in the blood vessels of the heart muscle (myocardium). The vessels that deliver oxygen-rich blood to the myocardium are known as coronary arteries. The vessels that remove the deoxygenated blood from the heart muscle are known as cardiac veins.
