Croup presents with “bark like cough” or a harsh brassy cough with inspiratory stridor…what bug cases croup? What part of the body is infected?
How do you DX?
TRX?
A
Parainfluenza infection of larynx and trachea.
DX = Clinical
TRX: IF MILD (no stridor at rest) --> IM or PO steroids + Humidified air
IF MOD/SEVERE (stridor at rest) IM or PO Steroids + Nebulized Epinephrine.

What are two known risk factors for infantile pyloric stenosis?
A
- Macrolide during first 2 weeks of life (Erythromycin or Azithromycin) often for Pertussis ppx if close contact has pertussis.
- Bottle fed (4X increase in risk than breast fed)
