Describe the Public sector
The Public Sector exists to provide Public services and is Controlled and run by The government or local council on behalf of the Public.
Key features of the Public sector
- It is Funded and Controlled by Local and Central Government.
- It Exists to Provide Public Services.
- It is Financed Through Taxes paid by the Public
Types of Public sector organisations
- Government funded service providers
- Local Authorities ( eg Aberdeen city council
- Public Corporations
Aims of a Public sector
- To Make best use of funds.
- To improve the quality of service offered
- To Raise revenue
- To cut Costs
Key features of the Third Sector
They are administered by officials who are appointed to ensure objectives are met
They raise money from donations, Fundraising activities and membership fees
They exist to help Particular groups of people/animals/wildlife or provide a service for their members.
Examples of Charities/Third Sector Organisations
One example of a charity is Nuffield health
Another example of a Charity is Save the children International
Another Example of a charity is the Children’s aid foundation
Aims of the Third Sector
To raise as much funds as possible for their cause
To help people/animals in need .
To open more branches - Charity Shops
To provide a Service for their members .
Describe the aims of the Public sector
- As finance is limited then the government
- To provide The highest Quality of service possible with the resources available.
- To Obtain finance Through Taxation eg Through Income Tax, VAT and council Tax.
- To Reduce Spending
