Q

For every £1 spent on education for the poorest 20%, how much is spent on educating the richest 20%? (2015)

A

about 48p - and has been getting steadily more progressive as higher education has shifted from being the heavily subsidised privilege of the few to a service for the many. Thus trend will continue in 2016 as the school leaving age rises to 18 - as it was usually the poorest who left school early.
