Affirmative Action
Gov’t Policies/Programs that seek to redress past injustices against certain groups my making special efforts to provide them with access to employment and educational opportunity.
Exclusionary Rule
In Judicial procedings, the rule that evidence obtained in violation of constitutional guidelines cannot be used in court against the accused.
Prior Restraint
The legal doctrine that the govt doesn’t have the power to restrain the media from publication, except in cases of dire national emergency.
Capital Punishment
More than two-thirds of still allow the death penalty.
Tax System
Until recently, Americans favored high taxes. Promising the lowering of taxes can help a presidential candidate win. Voters don’t understand tax issues because only tax experts and lawyers can understand the U.S. tax system.
